Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 (gene UGT1A1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 59.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.
UGT1A1 is a UDP-glucuronosyltransferase that attaches glucuronic acid to fat-soluble compounds, making them water-soluble for excretion in bile or urine. It is the main enzyme that glucuronidates bilirubin, and reduced activity underlies Gilbert and Crigler–Najjar syndromes. UGT1A1 also metabolizes drugs such as irinotecan's active metabolite, so it is studied in drug metabolism.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human RT4 cells, human Caco-2 cells, rat liver tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human liver cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): Caco-2 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): HepG2 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human UGT1A1 fragment (Glu316–His533), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in liver, colon and small intestine. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
