Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-ULBP1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A04323-1.
Biological background
Biological context: This is a receptor for interleukin-3.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Membrane. Single-pass type I membrane protein., tissue context: Brain..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare ULBP1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of ULBP1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify ULBP1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: UL16 binding protein 1 (ULBP1) is a cell surface glycoprotein encoded by ULBP1 gene located on the chromosome 6. The protein encoded by this gene is a ligand of natural killer group 2, member D (NKG2D), an immune system-activating receptor on NK cells and T-cells. Binding of the encoded ligand to NKG2D leads to activation of several signal transduction pathways, including those of JAK2, STAT5, ERK and PI3K kinase/Akt. Also, in cytomegalovirus-infected cells, this ligand binds the UL16 glycoprotein and is prevented from activating the immune system. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Membrane. Single-pass type I membrane protein.
- Tissue details: Brain.
