Product Overview
Clone AAEG-22 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 (gene VAMP2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 12.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 16 kDa.
VAMP2 (synaptobrevin-2) is the main vesicular SNARE of synaptic vesicles. It zippers with syntaxin-1 and SNAP-25 into a four-helix bundle that pulls membranes together and drives neurotransmitter release. VAMP2 is a well-known target of botulinum and tetanus toxins and a standard marker in synapse and exocytosis research.
