Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects vesicle-associated membrane protein-associated protein A (gene VAPA) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 27.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 33 kDa.
VAPA is an endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein that forms contact sites between the ER and other organelles. It binds proteins carrying FFAT motifs, such as OSBP and STARD3, which transfer lipids like cholesterol between membranes. VAPA is studied in membrane contact sites, lipid transport and vesicle trafficking.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): PC-3 cells.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): human colorectal adenocarcinoma tissue, rat colon tissue.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U87 cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human VAPA. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 94.1%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places vesicle-associated membrane protein-associated protein A in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, cell junction and nuclear membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
