Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes vascular cell adhesion protein 1 (gene Vcam1) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for ELISA, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 81.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 110 kDa.
VCAM-1 (CD106) is an immunoglobulin-superfamily adhesion molecule expressed on activated endothelial cells. Induced by inflammatory cytokines, it binds the integrin VLA-4 (α4β1) on leukocytes and supports their firm adhesion and migration into tissues. VCAM-1 is a common marker of endothelial activation in inflammation and atherosclerosis research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL |
| ELISA (capture antibody) | 1–5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse spleen tissue, mouse lung tissue, rat spleen tissue, rat lung tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human kidney tissue, mouse spleen tissue, rat spleen tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse VCAM1 fragment (Phe25–Leu270), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Expressed on inflamed vascular endothelium, as well as on macrophage-like and dendritic cell types in both normal and inflamed tissue. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
