Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets vascular endothelial growth factor A, long form (gene Vegfa) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 25.3 kDa; the supplier reports observed bands at 27 kDa, 40 kDa.
VEGF-A is the main vascular endothelial growth factor that drives angiogenesis. Produced in response to hypoxia, it binds VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 on endothelial cells to promote their proliferation, migration and survival and to increase vascular permeability. VEGF-A is widely studied in vascular development, wound healing, eye disease and tumor angiogenesis.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse thymus tissue, mouse HEPA1–6 cells, rat C6 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse VEGF/VEGF164 fragment (Ala27–Arg190), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt places vascular endothelial growth factor A, long form in the [N-VEGF]: Cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): In developing embryos, expressed mainly in the choroid plexus, paraventricular neuroepithelium, placenta and kidney glomeruli. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
