Rabbit Monoclonal

Product Overview

Clone 18V68 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes versican core protein (gene VCAN) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 372.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 373 kDa.

Versican is a large chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan of the extracellular matrix. It binds hyaluronan and helps organize the matrix around cells, influencing cell adhesion, migration and proliferation. Versican is studied in development, vascular biology, inflammation and tumor microenvironment research.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse heart cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human versican.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes versican core protein as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in placenta (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
