Product Overview
Clone 18S50 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes vesicular glutamate transporter 1 (gene SLC17A7) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 61.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 53 kDa.
Vesicular glutamate transporter 1 (VGLUT1, SLC17A7) fills synaptic vesicles with glutamate, driven by the proton electrochemical gradient across the vesicle membrane. It predominates in excitatory neurons of the cerebral cortex, hippocampus and cerebellar cortex, and it is a standard marker of glutamatergic synapses.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places vesicular glutamate transporter 1 in the cell membrane and synapse. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in several regions of the brain including amygdala, cerebellum, cerebral cortex, hippocampus, frontal lobe, medulla, occipital lobe, putamen and temporal lobe. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
