Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes synaptic vesicular amine transporter (gene SLC18A2) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 55.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 75 kDa.
Vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2, SLC18A2) loads dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine and histamine into synaptic vesicles of monoaminergic neurons, exchanging each amine for protons. It is inhibited by drugs such as reserpine and tetrabenazine and is widely studied in dopamine neurotransmission and Parkinson's disease research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HEL cells, rat brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Recombinant human VMAT2/SLC18A2 fragment (Met1–Asp514), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt places synaptic vesicular amine transporter in the cell projection. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in neuronal and neuroendocrine tissues. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
