Product Overview

Clone 23C58 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes charged multivesicular body protein 3 (gene CHMP3) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 25.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 29 kDa.

CHMP3 (VPS24) is a core subunit of ESCRT-III, which assembles into spiral filaments that constrict and cut membranes. It supports multivesicular body formation, abscission at the end of cytokinesis and release of enveloped viruses such as HIV.

Target Charged multivesicular body protein 3 (gene CHMP3; UniProt Q9Y3E7, human)

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places charged multivesicular body protein 3 in the cytoplasm, membrane, endosome and late endosome membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Flow cytometry 1:50; Immunoprecipitation 1:50. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 25.1 kDa; observed band at about 29 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human VPS24.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
