Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes serine/threonine-protein kinase VRK1 in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 45.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.
VRK1 is a nuclear serine/threonine kinase of the vaccinia-related kinase family. It phosphorylates chromatin proteins such as histone H3 and transcription factors such as p53 and BAF, and it contributes to chromatin condensation, cell-cycle progression and the DNA damage response. VRK1 is studied in cell proliferation and neurological disease.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat thymus tissue, Jurkat cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human VRK1. It differs from the mouse sequence at three residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt places serine/threonine-protein kinase VRK1 in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
