Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes prostaglandin G/H synthase 1 (gene ptgs1) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot.

COX-1 (PTGS1) is a cyclooxygenase-peroxidase that turns arachidonic acid into prostaglandin H2, the common precursor of prostaglandins and thromboxanes. It is expressed constitutively in many tissues, including platelets and stomach lining, and is a target of aspirin and other NSAIDs; zebrafish ptgs1 is also used to study prostanoid signaling in development.

Target Prostaglandin G/H synthase 1 (gene ptgs1; UniProt Q8JH44, zebrafish)
Host / Clonality / Isotype Rabbit / Polyclonal / Rabbit IgG
Reactivity Zebrafish
Form Lyophilized
Formulation Per vial: 4 mg trehalose; 0.9 mg NaCl; 0.2 mg Na2HPO4
Storage As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue, whole female zebrafish tissue, whole male zebrafish tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Recombinant zebrafish PTGS1 fragment (Gly164–Leu597), expressed in E. coli.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places prostaglandin G/H synthase 1 in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and microsome membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Handle with standard laboratory precautions.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Zebrafish. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Recombinant zebrafish PTGS1 fragment (Gly164–Leu597), expressed in E. coli.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
