Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme, mitochondrial (gene cyp11a1.1) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot.

In zebrafish, cyp11a1.1 encodes a mitochondrial cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme (P450scc), the first enzyme of steroid hormone synthesis. It converts cholesterol into pregnenolone and is expressed in steroidogenic tissues such as the interrenal gland and gonads, so it is used as a marker of steroidogenesis in zebrafish studies of development and endocrine function.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue, whole female zebrafish tissue, whole male zebrafish tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Recombinant zebrafish CYP11A1.1 fragment (Lys96–Lys487), expressed in E. coli.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion inner membrane and mitochondrion membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety
