Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes keratin, type II cytoskeletal 8 (gene krt8) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC.
Keratin 8 (KRT8) is a type II intermediate filament protein of simple epithelia and the obligate partner of keratin 18 (and also keratin 19). The resulting filaments protect liver, intestinal and other epithelial cells from mechanical and non-mechanical stress, including apoptosis. KRT8 is a common epithelial marker and is also studied in zebrafish epithelia.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue, whole female zebrafish tissue, whole male zebrafish tissue, zebrafish embryo tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): zebrafish kidney tissue, zebrafish eye tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.

Recombinant zebrafish Cytokeratin 8/KRT8 fragment (Ser17–Asp520), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places keratin, type II cytoskeletal 8 in the cytoplasm, nucleus and nucleus matrix. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (zebrafish): Expressed in simple epithelia. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
