Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects dead end protein 1 (gene dnd) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot.
In zebrafish, Dead end (dnd) is a germ plasm-associated RNA-binding protein required for survival and migration of primordial germ cells. It binds U-rich regions in the 3′-UTRs of target mRNAs and shields them from microRNA-mediated repression. Knockdown of dnd is widely used to produce germ cell-free zebrafish in reproductive and sex determination research.
| Target | Dead end protein 1 (gene dnd; UniProt Q7T1H5, zebrafish) |

| Storage | As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. |
Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue, whole female zebrafish tissue, whole male zebrafish tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant zebrafish DND fragment (Met1–Phe411), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places dead end protein 1 in the nucleus and cytoplasm. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
