Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects glutamate decarboxylase 2 (gene gad2) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC.
Glutamate decarboxylase 2 (GAD2, also called GAD65) makes the neurotransmitter GABA from glutamate. GAD65 is linked to synaptic vesicles and supplies GABA for release during high activity. It is used as a marker of GABAergic neurons, including in zebrafish studies, and is a major autoantigen in type 1 diabetes and some neurological conditions.
| Target | Glutamate decarboxylase 2 (gene gad2; UniProt F1R9E8, zebrafish) |
|---|---|
| Host / Clonality / Isotype | Rabbit / Polyclonal / Rabbit IgG |
| Reactivity | Zebrafish |
| Form | Lyophilized |
| Formulation | Per vial: 4 mg trehalose; 0.9 mg NaCl; 0.2 mg Na2HPO4 |
| Storage | As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. |
Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 2–5 µg/mL (Zebrafish) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue, whole female zebrafish tissue, whole male zebrafish tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): zebrafish eye tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Recombinant zebrafish GAD65/GAD2 fragment (Asp132–Tyr538), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places glutamate decarboxylase 2 in the cytoplasm, cytoplasmic vesicle and Golgi apparatus membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
