Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets glial fibrillary acidic protein (gene gfap) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot.
Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is a type III intermediate filament protein expressed mainly in astrocytes. It is the classic marker for astrocytes and for reactive astrogliosis after injury or disease, and it is also used in zebrafish to label radial glia. Mutations in GFAP cause Alexander disease, and GFAP levels are studied as a marker of brain injury.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue, zebrafish embryo tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant zebrafish GFAP fragment (Arg123–Pro444), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places glial fibrillary acidic protein in the cytoplasm. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
