Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects steroidogenic acute regulatory protein, mitochondrial (gene star) in zebrafish samples and is validated for Western blot.
Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) moves cholesterol from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane, where CYP11A1 converts it to pregnenolone. This is the rate-limiting step of steroid hormone synthesis in the adrenal gland and gonads, and StAR mutations cause congenital lipoid adrenal hyperplasia.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Zebrafish) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): zebrafish head tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant zebrafish STAR fragment (Ala62–Cys285), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with zebrafish. UniProt places steroidogenic acute regulatory protein, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion outer membrane and mitochondrion matrix. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (zebrafish): Highly expressed in the testis and at lower levels in the ovary, kidney and head. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
