Compound Overview
Azido Myristic Acid is a click chemistry reagent bearing an azide group. It can be used to identify and characterize post-translationally myristoylated proteins through a simple, robust two-step labeling and detection technique[1]. The azide group allows it to undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) with alkyne-containing molecules, as well as ring strain-promoted alkyne-azide cycloaddition (SPAAC) with molecules bearing DBCO or BCN groups. It is supplied as a white to off-white solid-liquid mixture (C12H23N3O2, MW 241.33) at 99.89% purity.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet and your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
| Solvent | Solubility | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DMSO | 100 mg/mL (414.37 mM) | requires sonication; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility) |
Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

In Vitro
Azido Myristic Acid could be a suitable substrate for enzymes. The azide group is very small and is completely absent from natural molecules, so its presence does affect the biodistribution of azido palmitic acid relative to natural palmitic acid, making it a suitable substrate for enzymes.
