BAY 11-7082 is an anti-inflammatory compound that inhibits cytokine-induced phosphorylation of IκBα, thereby suppressing NF-κB activation. It also functions as an inhibitor of E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes and can induce apoptosis. In neurodegenerative disease research, BAY 11-7082 is used to study the role of NF-κB signaling in neuroinflammation, glial activation, and neuronal survival. Its ability to modulate inflammatory pathways makes it a valuable tool for investigating therapeutic strategies aimed at reducing chronic inflammation in diseases such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, and multiple sclerosis.
Classification: Not a hazardous substance or mixture.
