Bioactive Small Molecules

Compound Overview

Bisindolylmaleimide V, also known as BIM V, is a cell-permeable negative control for protein kinase C inhibition studies, with an IC50 value over 100 μM[1]. It also blocks activation of the mitogen-stimulated protein kinase p70s6k/p85s6k (S6K) in vivo, with an IC50 of 8 μM[2]. It is supplied as an orange to red solid (C21H15N3O2, MW 341.36) at 97.75% purity.

Safety

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet and your institution's chemical hygiene plan.

In Vitro

SolventSolubilityNotes
DMSO10 mg/mL (29.29 mM)requires sonication and warming; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility)

Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
