BlasTaq™ Probe 2X qPCR MasterMix is designed for TaqMan™ probe-based real-time qPCR analysis of DNA samples. The components in the MasterMix — including dNTPs, BlasTaq™ DNA polymerase, MgCl₂, and other proprietary buffer components — have been optimized to deliver superb sensitivity and performance in under one hour.
BlasTaq™ is a next-generation, strategically engineered DNA polymerase that offers faster extension rates, improved processivity, and enhanced sensitivity compared to wild-type Taq polymerase. It possesses 5’-3’ polymerase activity and 5’-3’ exonuclease activity, which is essential for TaqMan probe hydrolysis during qPCR. It does not have 3’-5’ exonuclease (proofreading) activity, and produces 3’-dA-tailed amplicons, which are compatible with TA cloning if needed.
This MasterMix is suitable for a variety of applications, including SNP genotyping assays, gene expression analysis, microarray validation, and high-throughput screening. ROX reference dye is provided separately, ensuring universal compatibility with most qPCR instruments. Refer to the Rox Machine Compatibility Chart for instrument-specific guidelines.

Yes, BlasTaq™ Probe 2X qPCR MasterMix (Cat. G890) can be used for multiplexing assays.
No, BlasTaq™ Probe 2X qPCR MasterMix does not contain an antibody. It includes dNTPs, BlasTaq™ DNA polymerase, MgCl₂, and proprietary buffer components, making it ideal for TaqMan probe-based real-time qPCR analysis and various applications like SNP genotyping and gene expression analysis.
BlasTaq™ DNA Polymerase is a next-generation, engineered Taq polymerase designed to offer faster extension rates, higher yields, and improved processivity compared to traditional wild-type Taq polymerase. It also provides enhanced sensitivity, and can reduce reaction times by up to 70% through a specialized reaction protocol.
This product should be stored at -20°C to maintain its activity and stability. Ensure that the enzyme is kept in a frozen state until ready to use.
abm's qPCR MasterMixes don't contain ROX dye, but it is provided in a separate tube when you purchase any abm qPCR MasterMix. Some qPCR machines may require ROX, so please consult our machine compatibility list on the product page to see if your instrument needs it.
The recommended volume of ROX reference dye varies based on the qPCR instrument: No ROX equipment: No dye needed. Low ROX equipment: 1 μl/1.25 ml or 22.5 μl/25 ml. High ROX equipment: 11.5 μl/1.25 ml or 225 μl/25 ml.
Yes, this MasterMix is universally compatible with most qPCR instruments, as the ROX dye is provided separately for flexibility.
Typically, 100 ng of genomic DNA is used as template in a 20 μl reaction, but the volume can be adjusted depending on the application.
