In Vitro
| Solvent | Solubility | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| H2O | 50 mg/mL (143.99 mM) | requires sonication and warming and heat to 60°C |
| DMSO | 2.89 mg/mL (8.32 mM) | requires sonication; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility) |
If water is used as the stock solvent, dilute to the working solution and sterilize it through a 0.22 μm filter before use.
The manufacturer notes that the compound is unstable in solution; prepare solutions fresh before use.

In Vitro
In MG63 cells treated with Cisplatin, BpV(HOpic) (1 μM) increases cell proliferation and lowers the apoptotic rate[3]. Bpv(HOpic) (1 μM) promotes migration of C2C12 myoblasts, associated with activation of the PI3K/AKT and MAPK/ERK signalling pathways[4]. BpV(HOpic) (1 μM; 48 hours) promotes initiation of swine follicle growth and development, as is seen in rodent species and humans[5]. Nanocarrier-BpV(HOpic) improves axonal outgrowth in neurons[2].
In Vivo
In vivo, BpV(HOpic) (0.05 mg/kg; i.p.) given at reperfusion ameliorates liver ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury[6]. In mice with ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI), BpV(HOpic) (200 μg/kg; i.p.) worsens renal dysfunction and promotes tubular damage[7].
| Animal Model | Male Wistar rats are subjected to partial hepatic ischemia[6] |
|---|---|
| Dosage | 0.05 mg/kg |
| Administration | I.p. injections at the start of reperfusion |
| Result | Ameliorated reoxygenation injury and reproduced the hepatoprotective effects obtained by adenosine A2A receptor stimulation. |
| Animal Model | Male C57BL/6 mice (8-12 weeks old; 20-30 g) are subjected to renal ischemia[7] |
|---|---|
| Dosage | 200 μg/kg |
| Administration | I.p. injections 1 h before ischemia and then administers every 6 h after ischemia for 24 hr |
| Result | Raised the level of serum creatinine and blood serum urea nitrogen. |
