Readout & Interpretation
Bromodeoxyuridine is a thymidine analogue that is incorporated into newly synthesised DNA only in cells that are actively replicating, allowing proliferation to be quantified without counting the cells that were merely seeded.
Assay Principle
The BrdU Cell Proliferation Colorimetric Assay Kit applies a colorimetric format to this measurement, read at 370 nm (ref 492 nm) without stop solution; 450 nm (ref 690 nm) with stop solution.
The extent of color development is proportional to the quantity of BrdU incorporated into the cells and can be used directly as an indicator of cell proliferation.
