Product Overview
Carboxyl Quantum Dots Conjugation Kit is a Conjugation Kit from Ocean NanoTech.
Quantum dots (QDs) are fluorescent semiconductor nanocrystals that have unique optical and electronic properties including size tunable emission wavelength, superior brightness, high resistance to photobleaching, and simultaneous excitation of multiple colors from a single light source. These properties make QDs a unique class of light-emitting nanoparticles with promising potential in optoelectronics, biotechnology and medicine. Ocean NanoTech’s carboxyl-terminated quantum dots, ranging from 425-665nm, are now available in an easy-to-use kit format, allowing researchers to conjugate proteins & ligands of their own choice. The kit contains Carboxyl Quantum Dots and reagents sufficient for performing four (4) conjugation reactions . Briefly, the QDs are activated using carbodiimide and N-hydroxysuccinimide followed by conjugation to amino groups that are present on the target protein/ligand such as bovine serum albumin, streptavidin and immunoglobulin.

Safety & Handling
For Research Use Only (RUO). Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use and follow all applicable safety protocols.
This conjugation kit is optimized for covalent attachment of proteins, antibodies, peptides, and other amine- or carboxyl-containing biomolecules to the nanoparticle surface. The conjugation chemistry exploits EDC/NHS carbodiimide coupling or direct amine coupling depending on the specific kit protocol. Refer to the product data sheet for the list of validated biomolecule types and loading ratios.
This kit is available in multiple particle size variants (accessible via the variant selector). Particle size affects hydrodynamic behavior, conjugation efficiency, and downstream assay sensitivity. Smaller particles (10–15 nm) are preferred for solution-phase immunoassays, while larger particles (20–30 nm) may be better suited for lateral flow or magnetic separation applications.
Conjugation efficiency can be assessed by measuring protein concentration in the pre- and post-conjugation supernatant using a BCA or Bradford assay to estimate the amount of protein immobilized on the nanoparticle surface. Gel electrophoresis, DLS (dynamic light scattering), and functional assays (e.g., antibody binding activity) are recommended for comprehensive conjugate characterization.
Conjugated nanoparticles should be stored in the supplied storage buffer at 2–8°C and protected from light. Avoid freezing, as freeze-thaw cycles can cause irreversible aggregation. Short-term storage at room temperature is acceptable for applications requiring immediate use, but long-term stability should be evaluated under intended storage conditions.
