Compound Overview
Cefaloglycin, also known as Cephaloglycin, is an orally active, nephrotoxic β-lactam cephalosporin antibiotic with antibacterial activity against Gram-positive cocci other than enterococci. It is also toxic to mitochondrial substrate uptake and respiration[1][2][3]. It is supplied as a white to light yellow solid (C18H19N3O6S, MW 405.42) at 96.06% purity.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet and your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
In vitro activity of Cefaclor against S. pyogenes is comparable to that of Cephaloglycin and somewhat superior to that of Cephalexin[2].
In Vivo
Respiration and uptake of succinate and ADP are determined in rabbit renal cortical mitochondria that were exposed to 300 to 3,000 μg of Cefaloglycin (Cephaloglycin) per mL for 2 to 6 h and then washed free of the antibiotic. Both respiration and succinate uptake are irreversibly reduced by Cefaloglycin (Cephaloglycin). The in vitro injury caused by Cefaloglycin to mitochondrial substrate uptake and respiration develops in a time- and concentration-dependent manner[1].
