Compound Overview
CLR01 sodium is an anti-aggregation agent that crosses the blood-brain barrier. It blocks the de novo aggregation of Amyloid-β 40/42, α-synuclein, IAPP, tau protein, and SOD1, and in triple-transgenic mice it lowers cortical amyloid plaque burden while improving memory and motor abilities. It can be used in research on Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)[1]. It has a molecular formula of C42H30Na2O8P2 and a molecular weight of 770.61 g/mol.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
CLR01 binds the N-terminal lysine of the KLVFF peptide in PBS buffer, with a Kd of 10 μM[1].
In Vivo
In triply transgenic Alzheimer's disease mice, CLR01 (40 μg/kg; daily) lowers cortical plaque load and improves memory and mobility at this daily dose of 40 μg/kg[1]. In G93A-SOD1 ALS mice, CLR01 significantly reduces misfolded SOD1 in the spinal cord but does not improve motor function in this fast-progressing model[1].
