Compound Overview
CNS-11 is a brain-penetrant compound that degrades tau fibrils and reduces α-synuclein. It can be used in Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease research[1][2]. It is supplied as a white to yellow solid (C25H21N3O2, MW 395.45) at 98.30% purity.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet and your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
| Solvent | Solubility | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DMSO | 2 mg/mL (5.06 mM) | requires sonication and warming and heat to 60°C; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility) |
Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Data provided by the manufacturer.
In Vitro
In AD-tau fibrils treated with disaggregating compounds, CNS-11 (72 h) lowers the amount of insoluble tau[1]. In recombinant α-synuclein fibrils, CNS-11 (100 μM; 48 h) lowers the amount of insoluble alpha-synuclein[2]. In C. elegans, CNS-11 (100 μM; from L1 larval stage until day 6 of adulthood) lowers total α-synuclein aggregates[2].
In Vivo
CNS-11 (1 mg/kg; i.v.,; once) is found in the plasma and brain tissue of C57BL/6J mice, which indicates that it is brain permeable[2].
