Compound Overview
CPT2 (carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2) is an enzyme involved in fatty acid oxidation that also serves as a prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer (CRC). Its overexpression can activate p-p53 to raise p53 expression, inhibiting tumor proliferation and promoting apoptosis, while CPT2 deficiency causes the most common inherited disorder of long-chain fatty acid oxidation affecting skeletal muscle. Downregulation of CPT2 is also strongly correlated with progression of various cancers and has been studied for cancer research[1][2].
