Overview

This CTLA4 antibody is specific to the soluble form of the protein. CTLA4 (CD152) is a cell surface receptor that behaves as a negative regulator of the proliferation and the effector function of T cells. It contains a V domain, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. The membrane-bound isoform functions as a homodimer interconnected by a disulfide bond, while the soluble isoform functions as a monomer. Mutations in this gene have been associated with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, Graves disease, Hashimoto thyroiditis, celiac disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, thyroid-associated orbitopathy, and other autoimmune diseases. The novel finding that CTLA-4 molecule is expressed and functional on human tumor cells opens up the possibility of antitumor therapeutic intervention based on targeting this molecule.

This anti-CTLA4 antibody is supplied as Purified (Mouse, Monoclonal (mouse origin), clone L4P2F5.F10, Mouse IgG1, kappa, Unconjugated) and is designed to support common target-detection workflows after the on-page specifications.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: CTLA4
  • Format: Purified
  • Species reactivity: Mouse, Rat; Not suitable for Human samples testing.
  • Applications (listed): WB
  • Conjugate: Unconjugated
  • Clone and antibody class: Monoclonal (mouse origin), clone L4P2F5.F10, Mouse IgG1, kappa

Because antibody performance can depend on epitope context, sample preparation, and biological state, interpret signals using appropriate controls and orthogonal evidence when possible.

Biological background

CTLA4 is referenced in public gene/protein resources (e.g., UniProt and NCBI Gene), which provide curated names/synonyms, protein features, and pathway context. When designing assays, consider potential isoforms, post-translational modifications, and cell-type specific expression that may influence observed signal.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Profiling CTLA4 expression across model systems, perturbations, and time points to support mechanistic hypotheses.
  • Combining antibody-based detection with multi-omics or imaging readouts to link CTLA4 signal with phenotype.
  • Using well-matched controls (isotype controls, genetic perturbations, or independent reagents) to strengthen interpretation of target-associated signal.

Common research applications

  • WB

Use the listed applications as a starting point and tailor experimental design to your sample type and readout requirements.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity considerations: closely related family members, isoforms, or PTMs can affect apparent specificity; confirm with independent approaches when critical.
  • Controls: include negative controls and, when feasible, genetic or pharmacologic perturbations to support target attribution in your system.
  • Species and sample context: differences in sequence, expression, fixation, or extraction conditions can change signal behavior across models.
