Compound Overview
Cucurbitacin F is a tetracyclic protostane-type triterpenoid related to Cucurbitacin B that shows low toxicity along with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity, and occurs widely in plants such as those of the Cucurbitaceae family, Quisqualis indica and Sorbaria sorbifolia. It functions as an actin aggregator, reducing cell viability in a dose-dependent manner, and induces apoptosis by triggering G2/M phase cell cycle arrest together with caspase-3-dependent apoptotic activation[1][2][3][4][5]. It has the molecular formula C30H46O7 and a molecular weight of 518.68 g/mol.
