About the Analyte
Cyclic AMP is the archetypal second messenger, relaying signals from G protein-coupled receptors to protein kinase A and controlling processes from lipolysis to memory formation.
Assay Principle
The Cyclic AMP Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit applies a competitive ELISA format to this measurement, read at 450 nm (correction 542 or 570 nm). Hands-on and incubation time is 2 hours + 10-20 minutes development.
Because of the competitive nature of this assay, the color intensity is inversely proportional to the quantity of sample cAMP levels.
Colorimetric cAMP detection covers the nanomolar range typical of GPCR stimulation experiments.
