About the Analyte
Cyclic GMP transduces nitric oxide and natriuretic peptide signalling through protein kinase G, governing smooth-muscle tone, platelet behaviour and phototransduction.
Assay Principle
The Cyclic GMP Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit applies a competitive ELISA format to this measurement, read at 450 nm (correction 542 or 570 nm). Hands-on and incubation time is 2 hours + 10-20 minutes development.
Because of the competitive nature of this assay, the color intensity is inversely proportional to the quantity of sample cGMP levels.
cGMP quantitation tracks nitric oxide and natriuretic peptide signalling rather than the cAMP/PKA axis.
