The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of a detergent depends on the solution, for example on salt concentration. This kit measures CMC values of known detergents under different salt conditions, finds the CMC of new detergents, and tests whether a new molecule behaves as a detergent.
Kit Components
| Component | CMC1000 |
|---|---|
| 1000 x CMC dye | 100 µl |
Assay Principle
Detergent interacts with the CMC dye and raises its fluorescence at 465 nm (excitation 360 nm). The fluorescence ratio of each sample to a no-detergent control is plotted against detergent concentration; the transition point is the CMC value.
