Diazoxide is a mitochondrial ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel opener known for its cytoprotective and neuroprotective effects. In neuroscience, it has been shown to reduce neuronal apoptosis, oxidative stress, and excitotoxicity in models of stroke and neurodegeneration. By modulating mitochondrial function and preserving cellular energy balance, Diazoxide offers therapeutic potential in conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and ischemic brain injury.
