Biological Activity

(E)-2-(2-Chlorostyryl)-3,5,6-trimethylpyrazine (CSTMP) is a stilbene derivative with antioxidant and anticancer activities. It stimulates proliferation of hydrogen peroxide-damaged ECV-304 cells (EC50 = 24.9 nM). CSTMP reduces hydrogen peroxide-induced release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in and increases viability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) in a concentration-dependent manner via inhibition of apoptosis. It reverses hydrogen peroxide-induced release of malondialdehyde (MDA) and decreases in superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities as well as increases constitutive nitric oxide synthase (cNOS) activity and nitric oxide (NO) production in HUVECs. CSTMP also induces cell death of A549 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells in an IRE1alpha-dependent manner through induction of IRE1alpha-TRAF2-ASK1 complex-mediated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and mitochondrial apoptosis.

Safety & Regulatory

For Research Use Only (RUO). Not for therapeutic, diagnostic, or clinical use. Wear appropriate PPE and consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to handling.

What should I do if I find that the ice pack has melted upon receiving the product?

Melted ice packs are generally not a concern for solid powder compounds, as the short transit period at ambient temperature does not typically affect compound integrity or potency. Powder form is inherently more stable than solution form during temperature fluctuations. Upon receipt, transfer the compound to −20 °C immediately. If you observe color change, odor, or physical changes, contact BioHippo for quality investigation.

Can inhibitors be used for cell experiments?

Yes — TargetMol inhibitors can be used in cell-based and in vitro experiments. Prepare a DMSO stock, then dilute into cell culture medium to the desired working concentration, keeping DMSO ≤ 0.1% (v/v) to avoid solvent toxicity. Note that not all compounds have published data for every cell line or assay system; in such cases, perform a dose-response experiment with appropriate positive and vehicle controls to validate efficacy in your specific model.

Need this compound in a format that drops straight into your assay? We can tailor formulation, chemistry, and documentation so your results stay consistent across runs and re-orders.

  • Format options: solid or pre-dissolved solution (choose solvent), target concentration, aliquots, light/moisture-protected packaging
  • Chemistry options: free base/acid vs salt forms, hydrate/solvate preference, stereoisomer control (single enantiomer or racemate), close analogs
  • Add-on labels & handles: D/¹³C/¹⁵N isotopes (LC-MS/internal standards), azide/alkyne or other functional handles for conjugation
  • QC & documentation: standard COA or enhanced analytical pack (HPLC/LC-MS/NMR), chiral purity, residual solvents, water content (KF), method-specific specs
  • Scale & continuity: mg to gram scale, bulk pricing, lot reservation, repeat-order continuity
