E-4031 is a selective blocker of hERG potassium channels, which play a critical role in cardiac repolarization. In neuroscience, hERG channels have been implicated in neuronal excitability and neurodevelopmental disorders. By binding to open hERG channels, E-4031 modulates potassium currents and may influence neuronal firing patterns. Its ability to alter ion channel dynamics makes it a useful tool in studying electrophysiological properties of neurons and potential channelopathies.
