Polynucleotide phosphorylase (PNPase) has key roles in mRNA processing and breakdown. In bacteria, RNA turnover includes the addition of poly(A) tails after transcription, and PNPase carries both exonuclease and polymerase activities.

Assay Principle
The kit measures E. coli PNPase activity with an RNA substrate and nucleotides; a fluorescence dye added after the reaction is used for the readout.
