Compound Overview
Evoxine, also known as Haplophytin B and Haplophytine B, selectively inhibits CO2-induced immunosuppression and suppresses expression of interleukin-6 and the chemokine CCL2 in human THP-1 macrophages. It also shows antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacteria, performing especially well in minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) tests against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus, and its extracts may be applicable to crude drug preparations in West Africa provided in vivo toxicity results are negative[1].
It has the molecular formula C18H21NO6 and a molecular weight of 347.36 g/mol.
