Compound Overview
Fenquinotrione inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), with IC50 values of 27.2 nM and 44.7 nM against rice and Arabidopsis thaliana HPPD, respectively. As an herbicide, it can control a wide range of broadleaf and sedge weeds with excellent rice selectivity[1]. It is supplied as an off-white to light brown solid (C22H17ClN2O5, MW 424.83) at 97.61% purity.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet and your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
Fenquinotrione competes with HPP, the substrate[1]. Two strong interactions form between Fenquinotrione and AtHPPD: a π–π interaction with Phe420 and hydrogen bonding with Gln335[1].
