Compound Overview
Folic acid disodium, also known as Vitamin B9 disodium and Vitamin M disodium, is an orally active disodium salt form of Folic acid with an intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR) of 4.96 × 10⁵ g/s[1]. It serves as a cofactor in single-carbon transfer reactions and has protective effects against neural tube defects, ischemic events, and cancer, whereas its overload impairs brain development during embryogenesis and promotes growth of precancerous altered cells; Folic acid deficiency, in turn, leads to megaloblastic anemia[2]. It is supplied as a light yellow to yellow solid (C19H17N7Na2O6, MW 485.36) at 98.56% purity.

Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); sealed storage, away from moisture; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
If water is used as the stock solvent, dilute to the working solution and sterilize it through a 0.22 μm filter before use.
