Compound Overview
Fumiquinazoline A is a peptidyl quinazolinone indole alkaloid with antifungal activity, isolated from Aspergillus fumigatus. It acts as a substrate of the FAD-dependent amide oxidase Af12070, a flavoenzyme that oxidizes it to the seven-membered spiroaminal Fumiquinazoline C, and it is used in studies of fungal infections[1][2][3].
It has the molecular formula C24H23N5O4 and a molecular weight of 445.47 g/mol.

In Vitro
Fumiquinazoline A is a substrate of the FAD-dependent oxidase Af12070 Δ1-24, which drives O2 consumption at an apparent turnover number of 4.6 min-1[1]. Af12070 Δ1-24 oxidizes Fumiquinazoline A (200 μM; 0.1-20 hrs) to the seven-membered spiroaminal Fumiquinazoline C[1]. Fumiquinazoline A shows moderate antifungal activity versus phytopathogenic fungi, with MIC values of 12.5-25 μg/mL, and is more active than Fumiquinazoline D[3].
