Overview

GAD65 Antibody / GAD2 is an antibody targeting GAD65. Host: Mouse. Monoclonal. Clone: GAD2/6484. Format: Purified. Applications: ELISA, WB, IHC-P.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: GAD65.
  • Immunogen: A recombinant fragment of human GAD2/GAD65 protein (within amino acids 1-200) was used as the immunogen for the GAD65 a….
  • Species reactivity: Human.
  • Localization: Cytoplasm.
  • Conjugate: Unconjugated (no label listed).

Biological background (from provided description)

This mAb recognizes a protein of 65kDa, which is identified as glutamic acid decarboxylase 2 (GDA2). It is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. There are two forms of glutamic acid decarboxylases (GAD s) that are found in the brain: GAD2 (also known as GAD65) and GAD1 (also known as GAD67).

Common research applications

  • WB: relative abundance and band pattern assessment using appropriate controls.
  • IHC: tissue distribution assessment; interpret with matched controls.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, paralogs, and post-translational modifications when interpreting signal.
  • Support specificity with biological controls (e.g., KO/KD where available) and technical controls (e.g., secondary-only/isotype).
