Compound Overview
Ganciclovir triphosphate, also known as GCV-TP, is a competitive inhibitor of DNA polymerase and a metabolite of Ganciclovir. It can replace Guanine-5'-triphosphate to terminate DNA chain extension and mimics dGTP in competing with mammalian DNA polymerases, and it can be used in research related to HSV infection, retinoblastoma, glioblastoma and colorectal cancer[1][2][3]. It has the molecular formula C9H16N5O13P3 and a molecular weight of 495.17 g/mol.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
In U251gfp human glioblastoma bystander cells cocultured with U251tk cells, ganciclovir triphosphate builds up to 30-80% of the level found in U251tk cells, depending on GCV concentration, coculture ratio, and incubation time. Levels reach up to ~2000 pmol/107 cells in 50:50 cocultures treated with 10 μM GCV for 24 h[2].
