Overview

GLIF Antibody / Glycosylation inhibiting factor / MIF is an antibody targeting GLIF. Host: Mouse. Monoclonal. Clone: MIF/4285. Format: Purified. Applications: WB.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: GLIF.
  • Immunogen: A recombinant fragment of human protein was used as the immunogen for the GLIF antibody..
  • Species reactivity: Human.
  • Localization: Secreted, Cytoplasm.
  • Conjugate: Unconjugated (no label listed).

Biological background (from provided description)

Macrophage migration inhibitory factor, known as MIF or Glycosylation inhibiting factor, is a secreted, homotrimeric, pro-inflammatory cytokine that modulates macrophage and T cell function and is an important regulator of host response to infection. MIF is expressed at sites of inflammation, which suggests that it plays a role in regulating macrophage function in host defense.

Common research applications

  • WB: relative abundance and band pattern assessment using appropriate controls.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, paralogs, and post-translational modifications when interpreting signal.
  • Support specificity with biological controls (e.g., KO/KD where available) and technical controls (e.g., secondary-only/isotype).
