Alomone Labs is pleased to offer a highly specific antibody directed against an epitope of the rat protein. Guinea pig Anti-Angiotensin-(1-7) Mas Receptor Antibody (#AAR-013-GP, formerly AGP-099), raised in guinea pig can be used in western blot analysis. It has been designed to recognize Ang-(1-7) Mas receptor from rat, mouse and human samples. The antigen used to immunize guinea pigs is the same as Anti-Angiotensin-(1-7) Mas Receptor Antibody (#AAR-013) raised in rabbit. Our line of guinea pig antibodies enables more flexibility with our products such as multiplex staining studies, immunoprecipitation, etc.

Target MAS1

Overview

Guinea pig Anti-Angiotensin-(1-7) Mas Receptor Antibody is an antibody targeting Proto-oncogene Mas, MAS1 Polyclonal raised in Guinea Pig (Unconjugated). This antibody is commonly used in WB to detect, localize, or compare expression of the target across samples.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: Proto-oncogene Mas, MAS1 (also reported as Proto-oncogene Mas, MAS1).
  • Immunogen/epitope region: 3rd intracellular loop.
  • Homology note: Mouse, human - identical (informative for cross-species interpretation).
  • Species reactivity (as provided): Human, Rat, Mouse.
  • Lot quality control (as provided): Western blot analysis.
  • Peptide confirmation: Confirmed by amino acid analysis and mass spectrometry.
  • Blocking peptide: Available for antigen preadsorption control where appropriate.
  • Conjugate/format: Unconjugated (may affect detection channel and background).

These attributes help researchers interpret whether signal reflects the intended target in a given assay and sample context.

Biological background

The Angiotensin-(1-7) Mas receptor is the recently identified receptor of the biologically active heptapeptide angiotensin-(1-7).1 Angiotensin (Ang)-(1-7) is a metabolite of the well known peptide hormone Angiotensin (Ang) II, a key component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) that has a central role in cardiovascular homeostasis. Considerably interest in Ang-(1-7) and its receptor aroused in the last few years since it became apparent that it can counterbalance most of Ang II effects. Thus Ang-(1-7) has vasodilator and hypotensive effects as well as antiarrhythmic and cardioprotective roles.2, 3 The Ang-(1-7) Mas receptor belongs to the 7-transmembrane domain, G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily and was originally described as a protooncogene.Signaling via the Ang-(1-7) Mas receptor is still poorly elucidated however, evidence indicates that the receptor is coupled to a Gq/11 protein that activates phospholipase C (PLC).2,3 The Ang-(1-7) Mas receptor is expressed in several organs including heart, kidney, blood vessels, testis and brain.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Comparing target expression across perturbations, genotypes, or treatment conditions.
  • Interpreting localization shifts alongside pathway or phenotypic readouts.
  • Using orthogonal controls (KO/KD, peptide competition, isotype concepts) to support conclusions.

Common research applications

  • Western blot (WB): compare target abundance/size across lysates and conditions; consider isoforms/PTMs.

Interpretation typically benefits from comparing matched sample sets (e.g., treated vs control, WT vs KO/KD) and using orthogonal readouts where feasible.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Isoforms and post-translational modifications can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility across samples.
  • Cross-species signal may depend on epitope conservation; consult the provided homology note when selecting models.
  • Permeabilization, fixation, and antigen retrieval can change accessibility of intracellular vs extracellular epitopes.
  • Conceptual control: antigen preadsorption (blocking peptide) can help assess signal dependence on the immunogen region.
  • Provided control suggestions: Negative control: BLP-AR013.
  • Application notes: see product-specific dilution/usage notes and control concepts provided in the dataset.
