GW2580 is a potent and selective ATP-competitive inhibitor of cFMS kinase, the receptor for macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF/CSF-1). In neurodegenerative disease research, GW2580 is used to study microglial activation and neuroinflammation, as CSF-1 signaling regulates immune cell proliferation and survival in the brain. By inhibiting cFMS, GW2580 helps elucidate the role of microglia in neurodegeneration and supports the development of anti-inflammatory therapies for conditions such as Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis.
