Overview

HiSur Amine Beads are hydrophilic magnetic beads with amine groups. These surface groups allow covalent bond formation to antibodies, proteins, peptides or other biomolecules via primary amine, carboxy or thiol groups. Oligonucleotides, antibodies or other ligands with these groups can be easily coupled to the beads. Activation through EDC or Sulfo-SMCC is required. Attribute to their very large surface area (about three times larger than that of the MonoMag Amine Beads and unique surface coating, HiSur Amine Beads exhibit superior binding capacity and low non-specific binding of protein or nucleic acids.

These’s HiSur Amine Beads (1 µm) are also available in an easy-to-use kit format, allowing researchers to conjugate antibodies, proteins, peptides or other biomolecules of their own choice to these magnetic beads. With the engineered HiSur Amine Beads (1 µm) and the specifically formulated conjugation buffers, the resulting conjugates exhibit superior binding capacity and low non-specific binding. The kit contains sufficient reagents & components for performing at least 5 conjugation reactions. Briefly, the magnetic beads are activated using SMCC (succinimidyl 4-(N-maleimidomethyl) cyclohexane-1-carboxylate) followed by conjugation to thiol groups that are present on the target protein/ligand. The recommended protocol has been used to successfully conjugate bovine serum albumin, streptavidin or immunoglobulin to these magnetic beads.

HiSur Amine Beads are 1 µm superparamagnetic beads with primary amine (–NH₂) surface groups and very large surface area (~3× MonoMag). Their high amine density supports high-capacity coupling to carboxyl-bearing targets via EDC, or to thiol-bearing targets via crosslinkers such as Sulfo-SMCC or glutaraldehyde.

Choose amine beads when your target biomolecule carries carboxyl groups (common in many proteins under mild conditions) or thiol groups, and you prefer to activate the target rather than the bead surface. Amine beads are also useful for aldehyde-based coupling via glutaraldehyde.

HiSur beads have approximately 40% magnetic content, providing fast and efficient magnetic separation in standard bench-top magnetic separation racks within minutes. This is higher than MonoMag beads and suitable for workflows requiring rapid bead clearing.

Store at 2–8°C. Do not freeze. Resuspend by bath sonication before use. Avoid strongly acidic or alkaline conditions and oxidizing reagents that can degrade the amine surface functionality.

Typical applications include immunoassay bead preparation, antibody conjugation, cell separation, and protein purification workflows where high binding capacity per volume of beads is required.
