Scientific Background

The product of this gene belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel receptor superfamily. This gene encodes subunit B of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor causes fast, depolarizing responses in neurons after activation. It is not functional as a homomeric complex, but a pentaheteromeric complex with subunit A (HTR3A) displays the full functional features of this receptor. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

What expression system was used and how does it affect protein quality?

This protein was produced in Mammalian (HEK293). Mammalian expression enables human-like glycosylation, correct disulfide bond formation, and proper protein folding — all critical for proteins used in binding interaction studies (SPR/BLI) and antibody characterisation. For transmembrane proteins expressed as ectodomains or nanodisc preparations, the expression system directly affects binding conformation and assay performance.

What amino acid region does this construct cover?

The expressed amino acid region is specified in the protein specifications table. Cross-reference with the UniProt entry (O95264) to confirm the expressed region includes your domain of interest — receptor-binding domain, extracellular domain, or specific epitope — before ordering.

What is the purity of this protein and how was it verified?

>95% purity by SDS-PAGE and Coomassie staining. A gel image showing the protein band is provided with each lot on the Certificate of Analysis. This high-purity specification is suitable for SPR/BLI kinetics measurements, ELISA standard curve development, and antibody epitope binding studies.

How should I reconstitute and store this protein?

Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for reconstitution instructions for your specific lot. Storage: Store at -20°C to -80°C for 12 months in lyophilized form. After reconstitution, if not intended for use within a month, aliquot and store at -80°C (A Prepare single-use working aliquots after reconstitution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Lyophilized protein is stable for 12 months at −80°C from the date of receipt.

What is the expected delivery lead time?

6–8 weeks lead time required; contact biohippo for current stock status. Contact BioHippo to confirm current availability and place time-sensitive orders. For large-scale or bulk requirements, extended lead times may apply for custom production runs.
