Assay Principle
This EZ-Set™ kit supplies a matched capture and detection antibody pair and a standard for building your own sandwich ELISA for human apolipoprotein E (gene APOE) in cell culture supernatants, serum, plasma (heparin, EDTA), saliva, milk and urine. You coat the plate with the capture antibody, add samples and standards, detect with the biotinylated antibody and an avidin–biotin–peroxidase complex, develop with TMB and read at 450 nm. Plates, diluents, wash buffer, TMB and stop solution are not included.
Apolipoprotein E (APOE) is a lipid-binding protein that mediates the transport of cholesterol and other lipids between tissues. Acting as a ligand for the LDL receptor family, it directs the clearance of lipoprotein remnants and is the main apolipoprotein in the brain. Its common isoforms (E2, E3, E4) are widely studied in lipid metabolism and Alzheimer's disease.
